Safely Fill Your Home With a Beautiful Aroma March 30, 2013

Scentsy began with a simple idea — a safe, wickless alternative to scented candles. This wickless concept is simply decorative ceramic warmers designed to melt scented wax with the heat of a light bulb instead of a traditional wick and flame.
I plugged in my new Scentsy warmer in my dining room; I get these through my friend Cindy Bryant ; if the name rings a bell you may be familiar through her association with Monkees & Fanzine. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this product! Today I’m using a scent called white tea & cactus; filling my place with an aroma of a clean, crisp and refreshing floral mix with green notes … ahhh love it and love how it casts a dragonfly on the wall (see below) …  Dress up a room with a Scentsy warmer, add one of 80-plus fragrances, and enjoy! Shop here for all the latest styles and scents.  CLICK HERE TO VIEW A CATALOG & BUY

Some great cleaning tips …

Marilyn Wilson Realtor

For many of us March 20th sure doesn’t feel like the first day of Spring, but that is no reason not to act on our Spring fever!

Spring Cleaning Tips

photo_spring-cleaning1Whether you’re planning to move or just want to organize your household, now is a good time to “weed out” unwanted items.

As a rule of thumb, discard anything you haven’t used in 12 months, especially clothing you don’t wear or items your children have outgrown.

Throw away broken-down, worn-out items. Get rid of old magazines by offering them to a hospital, school, nursing home or daycare center. Recycle newspapers or use them for lighting fires or covering things while painting or cleaning. Dispose of all expired medications by pouring them down the toilet.

Call a local recycling center if you have paints, chemicals or other toxic materials to dispose. Items that are in good, clean condition – clothing, furniture…

Benefits Of Drinking Warm Lemon Water

Start the day out with a mug of warm water and the juice of half a lemon.
It’s so simple and the benefits are just too good to ignore. Warm water with lemon:

1. Boosts you’re immune system
Lemons are high in Vitamin C and potassium. Vitamin C is great for fighting colds and potassium stimulates brain & nerve function and helps control blood pressure.
2. Balances pH
Lemons are an incredibly alkaline food, believe it or not. Yes, they are acidic on their own, but inside our bodies they’re alkaline (the citric acid does not create acidity in the body once metabolized). As you wellness warriors know, an alkaline body is really the key to good health.
3. Helps with weight loss
Lemons are high in pectin fiber, which helps fight hunger cravings. It also has been shown that people who maintain a more alkaline diet lose weight faster. And, my experience is that when I start the day off right, it’s easier to make the best choices for myself the rest of the day.
4. Aids digestion
The warm water serves to stimulate the gastrointestinal tract and peristalsis梩he waves of muscle contractions within the intestinal walls that keep things moving. Lemons and limes are also high in minerals and vitamins and help loosen ama, or toxins, in the digestive tract.
5. Acts as a gentle, natural diuretic
Lemon juice helps flush out unwanted materials because lemons increase the rate of urination in the body. Toxins are, therefore, released at a faster rate which helps keep your urinary tract healthy.
6. Clears skin
The vitamin C helps decrease wrinkles and blemishes. Lemon water purges toxins from the blood which helps keep skin clear as well.
7. Hydrates the lymph system

App Security March 14, 2013

Some great reminders …

Marilyn Wilson Realtor

A Reminder About App Security

Protect your personal information and privacy when downloading apps. Follow these tips:

  • apple_iphone-appsDownload apps from reputable sources. (e.g. Apple’s App Store, Google Play)
  • Read customer reviews and ratings.
  • Look for apps with higher numbers of downloads.
  • Research the app developer.
  • Review the app permissions. These outline what information the app has access to once downloaded.
  • Password-protect your phone and applications in case your device is lost or stolen.

Before selecting an app, decide what you want to accomplish, whether it’s monitoring spending, conducting transactions or some other function. And remember, whichever app you choose, it won’t do the work all on its own. If you’re committed to entering, monitoring and using the data, an app can become a very convenient assistant.
